Two Races Two wins

Two races, two wins!

Southern Cross was on tap this past weekend and it was an absolute blast. A much stronger startlist than the prior weekend in combination with a big elevation day left me anxious but excited. While still early in the season, these events allow me to continue refining my process, isolate my weaknesses, and test my equipment in a race setting.

With the race only expected to be 2.5 hours it meant nothing but peak intensity. No camelback’s or wild fueling strategies on the day with two bottles being just enough to store my hydration, as well as in race calories.

The race was hot from the gun with only three of us together over the top of the WInding Stair climb. Lacking cooperation we eased, gathered a few from behind and relaxed before things blew up again on the second big climb of the day. I pushed hard on the descent for home, opened my gap, and galloped back into the winery for my second win of the season.

I’m excited to hang up the gravel bike for a while as I transition to the road this weekend. I’m heading out to Austin for Pace Bend and warm-weather training time with some good mates.

With Sea Otter on the mountain bike looming in mid-April and a strong foundation laid, my training emphasis is transitioning to anaerobic repeatability. Sprints on sprints!!

2 for 2, let's keep things rolling.

Best,

MG
