Stress vs Rest
Hey Everyone!
Easy restful days for me this past week. As an athlete, I’ve learned the hard way the importance of proper rest. I’ve always been one with a love for the work. Pushing myself to the limit, finishing training shattered, and assuming the more sore, tired, and generally beat I am, the better I will be. Do this like me and you’ll miss a few months of racing with a broken ill body, like me.
Training is all in the balance. Train hard, recover harder. Training is about providing your body stimulus and allowing the stimulus to create adaptation. Rest weeks for me are about resetting my mind, allowing my body to refresh, and give room for my identity to shine outside of myself as just an athlete. My university classes began and having time to prepare for the semester proved incredibly valuable as I set up for an all-around successful spring.
We had a chilly but fantastic ride Saturday morning and I hopped on a flight Saturday evening to spend a bit of time in Austin. 20 degrees and blustery here today. Really no luck with the weather lately.
Happy Riding.
